An essential component in this context is process simulation. Only through efficient and comprehensive process simulation can the best possible process flow be found and later surprises during the execution of processes be avoided.

In IYOPRO we distinguish between the process flow simulation and the business process analysis. 

The Process Flow Simulation

The simplest case of a process simulation is a pure process flow simulation. This type of simulation serves to achieve the following objectives among others:

• Consistency and operability test
• Detection of infinite loops
• Detection of "loose" ends
• Detection of unapproachable process steps
• Visualisation of various process paths
• Visualisation of parallel and sequential process steps  

In IYOPRO, process flow simulation is as easy as the operation of a video recorder. It works like an interactive film: You can fast forward or rewind, jump forwards or backwards in individual steps and interactively influence the process routes. You want to simulate only partial sectíons of the process and further elaborate the process in the course of the simulation? This is no problem either with IYOPRO.

Business Process Analysis

Business process analysis is meant to analyse business processes, based on a given business scenario and to provide key performance indicators (KPI's). Examples for such KPI's are:

• Utilized Capacity
  The utilized capacity describes to what extent a resource (e.g. a machine, work force) is utilized or alternatively how much capacity is still available. It is determined by the ratio of the degree of utilization and the maximum capacity. A utilization of 75% is aspirational. Exceeding the KPI or falling below permanently or considerably can be seen as an indication for possible over capacity or resource bottlenecks.
• Process Cost
  The process cost is the accumulated cost of a business process beginning with the first process step until the process end, incorporating the process result. Generally it's the partial cost of involved resources (personnel, material cost) as well as transport cost.
• Process Cycle Time
  The process cycle times are the accumulated times of a business process beginning with the first process step until the process and. Generally we are taking execution times, transport times, holding times and changeover times into account. Note that parallel executed activities are not added.
• Capital Commitment
  The capital commitment KPI shows how much capital is tied up by the respective process steps. That way you can for example identify whether your process involves extensive activities at the beginning which tie up company capital.
• Efficiency
  The efficiency view shows the ratio of execution times and holding times aiming for a minimization of the holding times.

Using these KPI's you can achieve the following goals in addition:

• Optimisation of sequential and parallel process steps
• Simulation & documentation of various process scenarios (worst case - best case)
• Process step analysis
• Consideration of time, resources and costs in the process context
• Map exercises for identification of the optimal process flow
• Target-performance comparison: Do I achieve my objectives?

For this purpose, the process elements in IYOPRO Professional are assigned properties that match the expected conditions. For Instance a splitting Gateway will receive the percentage weighting of it's outputs, an activity will be assigned the average processing time. IYOPRO then calculates within seconds all possible ways and provides the results in a clearly arranged way.
